Second-year UKZN Nursing students visited the Grade 7 class at the Durban East Primary School in Austerville, Durban, to coach them about the dangers of teenage pregnancy and drug abuse as they prepare for high school.

Izitshudeni ezenza unyaka wesibili weziqu zobuhlengikazi e-UKZN zivakashele abafundi besigaba sesi-7 esikoleni samabanga aphansi i-Durban East Primary School e-Austerville, eThekwini, ukuze zibaluleke ngengozi yokukhulelwa nezidakamizwa njengoba belungiselela ukuqala esikoleni samabanga aphezulu.

Izitshudeni ebeziphelezelwa uthisha wazo uDkt Mbali Mhlongo zenze lo mcimbi njengenye yezinhlelo zazo zokuxhumana nomphakathi, lapho bezigxile khona ekufundiseni umphakathi ngezempilo, ikakhulukazi ukukhulelwa kwabasha nokusetshenziswa kwezidakamizwa.

Zikhulume ngenzindlela uphuzo oludakayo nezidakamizwa kungaholela ekuziphatheni ngendlela enobungcuphe, nomthelela okungaba nawo ezifundweni nasezimpilweni zabafundi.

Izitshudeni zibe nomdlalo weshashalazi obufundisa ngobungozi nemiphumela yokukhulelwa kwabasha, izidakamizwa, i-HIV nengculazi, ubudlelwano nabantu abangesibona ontanga nezifo ezitholakala ngocansi.

Izitshudeni zikhulume nabafundi abayi-124 bebanga lesi-7 mayelana nengcindezi yokuba musha esikoleni samabanga aphezulu kanye namazinga okushiya esikoleni ngenxa yezidakamizwa nokukhulelwa.

Izitshudeni zilekelele abafundi ekuhlanzeni igumbi lesikole labagulayo futhi banikela ngokokundlala umbhede.

Isitshudeni u-Clovis Dusabe uthe kubafundi ‘Sonke siyingxenye yabakhi bekusasa lethu hhayi yezisulu zalo. Zinakekeleni.’
